As we have done in the past, we want to remind all of you about dealing with your pets around the holidays.
Given the kind of year 2020 has been, we may want to celebrate with even more enthusiasm than normal, while remaining safe at the same time.
And while most of our family members are looking forward to the holiday celebrations, those festivities can be troubling for our pets.
Any large gatherings, fireworks and loud music can frighten and traumatize our furry loved ones. Here are some reminders about things you can do to protect your pets year-round and especially around the holidays.
First, you should make sure your pets are micro-chipped and have an identification tag, and make sure that information is up to date. Large crowds and unusual noise may cause your pet to run away in fear.
If your pet is skittish, you may want to consider keeping them in an enclosed room, especially on New Year’s Eve. If your celebration includes fireworks and noisemakers, it is especially important to keep your pets away from them to avoid potential burns or injuries.
Make sure to keep your pets away from any special holiday food to avoid indigestion or other stomach issues. The best food to give your pets always is their regular food.
It’s important to keep your pet in a calm, safe environment. Make sure their favorite toys, blankets or other comfortable items are nearby.
Remember, your pets are part of your family. Think about keeping them safe during the holidays.
