There are many myths when it comes to dog grooming. To help you separate from fact and fiction, we’re discussing the five common misconceptions of grooming.
1.Some dog breeds don’t shed.
All dog breeds shed. Some don’t shed very much, but they all shed. It’s important to keep in mind that even if a dog doesn’t shed much, they still need to be groomed.
2.You can use human shampoo.
Human and dog shampoo are not the same thing. By using human shampoo, you could strip important oils and dry out your dog’s skin.
3. Dog breath is normal.
This is not always true. If it smells bad, your dog may have dental decay or a health issue.
4. Bathing causes dry skin.
Bathing is great for dogs and it should do good to your skin. The reason why your dog may experience some irritation after the bath is because the shampoo may not be agreeing with their specific skin (see the earlier myth about human vs dog shampoo).
5. Tear stains are bad.
Tear stains are stains caused by ruddy pigments in the tears. As such, they are not a health care problem; they are more or less a cosmetic problem.
