Be prepared when your pet comes begging! With a household full of good food and sweets, it’s probable your pet will want a plateful. While this is a fun experience to share with your pet, keep in mind some things you should or should not be feeding your pet.
Pet friendly:
- Vegetables. Fresh vegetables such as green beans can be an excellent “dish” for your pet.
- Cranberry sauce. It’s best to only give your pet a little bit of cranberry sauce due to the amount of sugar in it.
- Mashed potatoes. Potatoes are great for your pet, but make sure there are no additional ingredients that could hurt your pet like sour cream or butter.
- Turkey. Turkey without skin, fat or bones can be a tasty treat for your pet!
Humans only:
- Chocolate. While this is a well-known limitation for pets, be sure that anything you feed your pet has no hidden chocolate.
- Grapes. Grapes can be toxic to pets.
- Alliums. Food with alliums, such as onions, garlic, scallions, should not be given to your pet.
- Artificial or added sugars should be avoided in your pet plates.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving and be thankful with your pet.
